Child Potty Training Tips - Toilet Training Your ToddlerI have a friend that swears anyone can accomplish potty training their child in only 48 hours. I have a toddler. I had serious doubts that anyone can finish potty training their child in two days. It took me two days to convince my little girl that the potty chair wasn't going to swallow her. The other day we sat down for a cup of coffee and I asked her just how she managed the task of potty training a child in 48 hours. I was really curious. I had been working on potty training my 21 month old for months. We had a few dry days. We had a few successes, but she was nowhere near ready for me to say that potty training was complete. As it stood we were still putting the children of diaper company executives through college and from where I was sitting, I could see no relief in sight. "It is so easy." She waved her hand in front of her cup. "You have to catch them right before they have to tinkle and set them on the potty chair." She said it as if anticipating the "tinkle" was the easiest thing in the world. "Just how do you do that?" I asked. I was completely intrigued. Did my friend have some potty training wisdom that eluded the rest of us? "Well." She paused to take a sip of her coffee. "You're the mother. You just know. There is a look that they get." "A look?" I had never heard of this. I had heard of the look that all mothers get when their child is misbehaving. Everyone knows about that look. It can stop a naughty toddler in her tracks. But a potty training look. This was news to me. "What kind of look?" "Well," she pondered. "My son would get this little glazed expression on his face and I would know." "Glazed expression?" That sounded interesting. I tried to remember if I had ever seen anything I would call a glazed expression on my daughter's face. She shrugged nonchalantly. "What can I say? It was a glazed expression. He got the look and I hustled him to the toilet and in two days he caught on." "Two days!" I was in awe. I had always heard that potty training was tougher with boys and here my friend had her son finished with potty training in two days. I was almost ashamed to tell her how many months I had struggled with my daughter. "You started too young." She assured me. "If you want to do the potty training in two days technique, you have to wait a bit, but it will make it much easier when you start." How old was your son when you started potty training? I asked. "Four and a half." She smiled and poured me another cup of coffee. Child Potty Training Tips - Toilet Training Your Toddler, Children And Kids This Story continues
